Roy Orbison possessed one of the great rock and roll voices: He sang heartbroken ballads and bluesy rockers alike, running up a formidable hit streak in the early Sixties. From the release of Only the Lonely in 1960 to Oh! Pretty Woman, a span of four years, Orbison cracked the Top Ten 9 times. His most memorable performances were lovelorn melodramas, such as "Crying" and "It’s Over", in which he emoted in a brooding, tremulous voice. But also a few rockers on this cd (Uptown, Claudette & Mean Woman Blues) will surprise you if you here them sung by Roy with that characteristic voice!

TIP!: Also buy the dvd "Black & White" if you can. It's real nice to see a young Bruce Sprinsteen (along with other famous artists) to play with his hero. The DTS sound is fantastic!, like you are at the concert yourself Really a must have :))

Backbeat is a 1994 movie that chronicles the early days of The Beatles in Hamburg, Germany. The movie focuses primarily on the relationship between Stuart Sutcliffe (played by Stephen Dorff) and John Lennon (played by Ian Hart), and also with Sutcliffe's German girlfriend Astrid Kirchherr (played by Sheryl Lee). The movie is generally more accurate, both about Sutcliffe's life and the early Beatles history, than the 1979 TV movie Birth of the Beatles.

I must admit I haven't seen "Birth of the Beatles", but this movie made a great impression on me. It's really great to see how the Beatles tried to breakthrough in Germany af first before they really became world famous. This is also the period where they meet with Tony Sheridan, with who they recorded several songs. This soundtrack is really really great and contains awsome rock & roll classics, not sung by the Beatles, recorded in a raw and rebellious way!!
